Allure
We can't get past the odd expression on Angela Bassett's face and the typeface that makes this cover look more like the front of a catalog.
Vogue
The Crown's Claire Foy makes a surprising appearance on the cover of Vogue, but the styling looks like a sad attempt at a Katy Perry Halloween costume.
Vogue Russia
Is this a poster for a horror movie starring Sasha Pivovarova?
Harper's Bazaar
Regardless of your thoughts on evening gowns and sneakers, Julia Roberts' million dollar smile is the real star.
InStyle
Beautiful woman, beautiful Giambattista Valli haute couture gown, but somehow Tracee Ellis Ross is upstaged by all that pink draping.
Vogue Australia
Victoria Beckham's hair and makeup is on point, but the styling and pose are not her best look.
Vogue Japan
Elle Fanning is giving us serious Jenny Humphrey from Gossip Girl flashbacks.
Vogue Spain
Lupita Nyong'o is so stunning, it's a shame the mag opted for a deer-in-headlights expression.
W
Cardi B stars on what is surely one of the month's tackiest covers.
SELF
This looks more like a Nike ad than a magazine cover, but SELF gets a pass for featuring the lovely Laverne Cox. And yes, get ready to see a lot more bike shorts in the coming months.
Vogue UK
A quintessential British cover featuring Fran Summers channeling a mannequin.
Marie Claire
Kerry Washington looking totally deserving of that powerful headline.
ELLE
It's funny to say someone looks "stripped down" given the amount of makeup and hair dye in this image, but when you consider that it's Lady Gaga, it's true...and we love it.
Glamour
You don't have to be obsessed with This Is Us to love this Chrissy Metz, Mandy Moore and Susan Kelechi Watson cover.
ELLE Portugal
A perfectly fine but totally forgettable shot of Chiara Ferragni.
Porter
It's always great to see the gorgeous Julianne Moore and her red mane on a cover.
Vogue Paris
Natasha Poly — in a beautifully bright Michael Kors knit — doing her best Brigitte Bardot with a platinum blonde 'do and blunt bangs.
We may be inching our way toward winter, but you wouldn’t know it from the glossy covers this month. Bright pink, bike shorts and bare arms were just a few of November’s most memorable fashion moments. It was a strong month for diversity with Laverne Cox, Tracee Ellis Ross, Angela Bassett, Kerry Washington, Cardi B and Lupita Nyong’o all landing major covers.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the strongest month for models, with most of the major covers going to celebrities. That said, there were some surprises, chief among them Claire Foy on the cover of Vogue. A surprising choice any month, but especially this month that marks Anna Wintour’s 30th anniversary at the fashion bible.
Here’s a look at the best and worst November 2018 magazine covers.
