Here's Your First Look at Zendaya's Sexy '70s Collection For Tommy Hilfiger

Zendaya's debut collection for Tommy Hilfiger is groovy, baby. Following Gigi Hadid's final collection for the brand nearly a year ago, the 22-year-old actress was ushered in as the new woman's ambassador. Now, after much anticipation, the Spring 2019 capsule collection Zendaya codesigned is gradually being revealed.

It's immediately clear that the collection is inspired by patterns and silhouettes associated with the 1970s - think flared trousers, psychedelic prints, and satin materials - but a press statement also cited the Battle of Versailles as a source of inspiration. The iconic fashion show on Nov. 28, 1973, saw French and American designers competing against each other at the Palace of Versailles. In fact, the highly publicized event helped raise money for the heritage site's restoration.

"Fashion is more than just wearing cool clothes."

Apart from appearing in major movies like The Greatest Showman and Spider-Man: Homecoming, Zendaya has also emerged as an outspoken voice for her generation. She's lent her daring style to an affordable collaboration with Boohoo and previously launched her own fashion line in 2016, Daya by Zendaya, although the line currently appears to be on hiatus. In an earlier press statement about her collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger, Zendaya said, "Fashion is more than just wearing cool clothes. It's a way to celebrate self-expression and individuality, which is extremely empowering."

The entire collection will be shown during Paris Fashion Week on March 2, and many looks will become available both online and in stores following the runway show. In the meantime, get a first look at Tommy x Zendaya ahead.
