The Lowdown
The powder is an exfoliant made of Japanese rice bran, a physical exfoliator and papaya extract, a chemical exfoliator. It works harder than a scrub, but it's not abrasive on skin. Once it comes in contact with a little water, it emulsifies into a creamy foam paste that effectively gets rid of buildup and dirt.

Could it be that two of the most influential women in the world share an exfoliation secret? Meghan Markle and Kim Kardashian both owe their spotlight-grabbing glow to Tatcha Rice Enzyme Powder. To be fair, the product has always had a loyal fan base, but now that we have the approval of Kim and the Duchess of Sussex, we’re more than intrigued.
The Japanese skin care brand has been a part of Meghan’s beauty routine for a while now. In fact, a pre-royal Meghan told Allure in 2014 that she’s obsessed with the $65 product. “I really love the Tatcha Rice Enzyme Powder. It just sort of foams on your face and gives you a really subtle exfoliation,” shared the Duchess.
Kim’s makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic revealed that Kim’s buttery glow at a charity event for amFAR was all thanks to the powder. “When mixed with water, this foaming enzyme powder helps exfoliate and smooth the surface of the skin,” Dedivanovic said during his latest master class, according to Marie Claire.
